Project 1

jessicaperri7's album on Photobucket

The elements:

Line- For the element line I used a picture of a fixture in my house that uses for lines to create a square

geometric shape.

Value-For value, I contrasted a picture of a design of different colors to show the different degrees of dark and light.

Shapes-For shapes I used the shade of a lamp that uses metal and glass to create shapes.

Forms- For forms I used the base of a lamp that uses long metal like pipes swirled around to creat a 3D like image.

Space- For space I used a close up of a leaf whit a pattern in the background.

Color- For color I used a picture of an old dress form which shows how color defines lines.

Texture- For texture I used the picture of a curtain with a very rough material and pattern that also appears bubbled almost.

The principles-

Balance-For balance I used a close up of a artificial flower wreath the colors and shapes as well as dimensions created the idea of balance.

Contrast- For contrast I used a picture of a green and yellow leaf with a bit of color effect to move the viewer through the piece.

Movement- for movement I used a glass case filled with different vases and personal items.

Emphasis- For emphasis I used a pattern with a soft focus on a specific part.

Pattern- For pattern I used and old red and swirl wallpaper.

Proportion- For proportion I used a close up on an anyique lamp of an angel.

Unity- For unity I used a picture of a piano with antique vases, a plant perfectly placed and a deer statue that seem to sit perfectly.

I found parts of this project a little difficult as I am not "artfully" inclined hence my criminal justice major. After reading part two of the book I had a bit of an easier time with deciding which pictures fit into which definition and even by accident identifying which pictures fit in more than one category!

  1. I think you did a great job with finding certain pictures to match each element and principle. I really enjoyed your exaple for pattern, and unity. I can see exactly why you chose the pictures that you did for each one.

  2. I enjoyed looking at your project. I can understand the direction and process you went through. I agree that this was a complicated project as we are not art majors. I feel as we progressed through the project things came a little more clear. I think that you could give yourself a little more credit because in my opinion you did a great job. I really liked your picture on movement. I also feel as if this image displays value. I also liked the image you created for space. I feel like your are showing if the image is being viewed to close it becomes blurry explaining distance.
