Week 15 self portrait
Vincent VanGogh
The art institute of Chicago
Self Portrait Drawing at a Window
Rembrandt
The art institute of Chicago
Frederick Douglas
Samuel Miller
The art institute of Chicago
I selected these influential pieces because they were all portraits of people who directly influenced history. Though Rembrandt and VanGogh were strictly influential in art Frederick Douglas was a leader of the abolitionist movement.
I selected my media because I thought it created a cool effect on my picture. This specific time was a memorable night and I think the media I used highlight and embodied the emotions into the art work.
I think my hardest challenge with this project was choosing a media I liked, I knew that drawing was not an option for me from the beginning so it seemed digital was my best choice.
This piece represents me because it's vibrant and it's full of life in a way which perfectly embodies my personality.
I did enjoy working on this though it was a bit time consuming I liked creating my own portrait.
Week 15 video
The first video I chose was Greenburg on art criticism: An interview by TJ Clark. This was an interview with Clement Greenburg, he expressed his art through abstract expressionism. This interview discussed the critique of art as well as the different interpretations of art.
The second video The Critics discusses the ways that the public perceives art and the types of criticisms received. It talks about the weight of the publics perceptions on art. This video also speaks on how criticism and explanations of art go hand in hand.
Both videos helped to better understand the importance of criticisms of art. They give knowledge on how critiquing art is properly executed. These videos also helped to understand how to give better feedback regarding art.
I think both films were helpful on better understanding the idea of critiquing art. They add depth to understanding art criticism and public perceptions of art.

Project 4
The first thing I did was collect all of the pieces and information for my project then I decided how I wanted to organize it. I completed the project in one day, as soon as I got moving I found it very easy to complete.

Mod 13
Displaying Modern Art: The Tate Approach- This video talks a lot about modernist and their that helped shape modernized museums. It discussed the concepts on deciding the displayed sense of art. Many different types of pieces also may come together to make up a collection. Majority of the Art is Western European, and North American.
Bones of Contention: Native American Archaeology- This video talked about archeological sites all over the US, and showed the remains of Native Americans. it talks about Native Americans and artwork they created before the genocide.
Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan Museum of Art- This video talked about Philippe de Montebello, who was the Director of the Metropolitan Museum of art. This video showed the inner workings of the Museum of modern art and what it takes to run a successful museum.
These videos don't really relate to my exhibit. Although interesting my exhibit explores dark paintings depicting the devil and spirits, gruesome morbid works of art.
The videos are helpful in providing background on these subjects.
